At Old Forge York

Relax, picnic and play in the grounds of The Old Forge. The magical ambience created by the mature trees and the informal English gardens are adored by everyone who stays. For families, there is a picnic table under the shade of the willow tree. With two rope swings, a large climbing frame and den building area, you can easily spend all day playing outside. The trampoline, secret paths to find and woodland fire pit mean that there is always something to entertain little ones. Make mud pies in the vegetable patch then help yourself to some new potatoes for supper. Remember when you visit our hens, the Barbaras, that they love to eat an apple as a treat.

For adults seeking time to be still, the woodland area is a tranquil space to take a blanket and sit on the grass under an oak tree. The deck chairs follow the sun and when you feel the need to be more energetic we do have a badminton and croquet set.

The beautiful city of York is just eight miles away. Take the village bus, cycle or park and ride for easy travel. With river boats, the dungeons, city walls to walk and shopping on the Shambles, everyone will enjoy a day or two in this historical city.
